The Father Sent His Son

All of us had gone astray
Lost in our depravity
The space dividing us from God
Was vast in its' immensity
Rebellious hearts suppressed the truth
Claiming we were deity
None was good, not even one
We were dead, no sight to see
We'd choose the sin, we loved the dark
Hell-bound for our iniquity

But yet the Father sent His Son
To die to save His chosen ones
Foreknown before all time began
That they would have eternal life
While we were yet still in our sin
Christ, our Substitute, would come
And bear the wrath that we deserved
Our atoning sacrifice
Christ's precious blood, our ransom price
The Father did not spare the Lamb

A perfect life our Saviour lived
He fulfilled the Law's commands
Now those God has caused to believe
Their lives are found hidden in Christ
Imputed with His righteousness
When He redeemed us from the curse
We are now washed white as snow
The Spirit's seal impressed on us
Christ ever lives, salvation sure
Our Great High Priest, He pleads for us
