The Carpenter

Dusk seeped in from the west
As his hand softly met the old structure
Illuminating wrinkles in his leathery hands
They aligned so precisely
With the cracks and grains of wood
Each one in its own timeline
Narrating the stories and lore
Of their long, useful lives
Little proofs of what they had conceived
Together, fortunate
The old bench and his carpenter
