It only makes it worse

But this is normal and I'm not surprised
I've been down this trail a few times

You didn't see me

And I'll keep wearing this fake smile
And the bright eyes I found down the next aisle
And I'll keep giving you the same fake laugh
So enthusiastic as far as you can tell

It really hurts to feel nothing at all
And it's even worse when it finds its way back to the surface
It doesn't warn me it doesn't care it has to find me
I want to run away so I drown it in my blood
It breaks the surface once again
