Reflections

I'm seeing shapes in the water
As they form into the ones I love
And reflect the light
Onto the things that pull the strings
Of my worst fears

That I spent too many days in the grey
With nowhere to go and nothing to say
But today is the day
I can feel it in my bones
That I'm finally not terrified
Of dying alone

I've learned this life is a portrait

As we sacrifice our days
Being overworked and underpaid
Just to survive each day
We tell ourselves as we slave away
That its never going to be
Picture perfect
So take your time
To paint your masterpiece
As the rest of the world

(Tries to)
Throw stones at your glass wings

The poor work and work
As the rich exploit the poor
But the soldier protects both
As the taxpayer pays for all three
The wanderer rests for all four
As the drunk drinks for all five
So that the beggar can rob all six
As your liars mislead all seven

As the doctors bill all eight
And the undertaker buries all nine
As the politicians
Happily live on the account of all ten

I am seeing shapes in the water
