Debbka the Donkey

The ox knows his buyer
And the donkey also knows
The donkey - his master's stable
Therefore do not be astonished, my friends
To hear the legend about a well-trained donkey

They asked the donkey, "Where are you going?"
He answered, "To fetch wood & water, where else!"
Village to village spreads the tale
And they talk about him constantly
Under the shade of a sycamore or a palm
To each other, all the sons of Arabia
In the morning the farmer went out to the field
And the donkey went
With the bucket to draw from the spring
The rich man with the belly hurries off to town
And on the donkey's back
The woodcutter loads more wood
