Me Against

The big hand moves, 3:00 AM once again
Calm night, no wind, is how the story begins
Sitting still, no action, thinking this is life
Tell the wife everything is fine, but it's a lie
The clouds come in, I can feel it in my bones
The universe is coming home and I am not alone
Any longer, destiny and fate conspire
To lead me to the fire, the air is getting drier
I can feel it, on the verge, it's about to come
Strap the sword to my side and then I load the guns
I can feel their presence, outside in the fields
The dogs bark, the birds hush as the silence builds
I see shapes through the windows, a hundred shadows
The wind starts, the fire dies, a loose shingle rattles
A haunting sound in the dead of night, like the strike of gavels
Chamber the bullet, then walk out the door for battle

Boom, in an instant the thunder starts
Lighting flash from the barrel, put the bullet in his heart
Hit 'em once, hit 'em twice, three times, then he fell
Fall back and reload, take cover behind the well
Pop up, I see eyes, put the sights on him
Let loose, two down, I was right on him
To close for rifles, stand up for the draw
Two enemies down, now it's me against the fog
One appears, we square off, .357 leaves the holster
Got the jump on him, but I feel a bullet graze my shoulder
Metal stings, barrel roll, then let off two rounds
Peek around to find out I put two more down
Five more left, I pull the Glocks out
Jump out in plain sight, it's time to rock out
Bullets blaze by, knock 'em down, one, two, three
Pistol whip the fourth, now it's me against me
Guns empty, throw 'em down, unleash the blade
Lock eyes with the threat, and try to judge his gaze
Pull back, swing the sword at the enemy
Shatter the mirror, now I've killed all ten of me

After the battle it's just me and the silence
The knight knows not the difference between peace and violence
Internal riot, and I'm the victor
Me against ten men, left standing is just me in the picture
I'm not a killer, I just killed me
Ten times, ten minds, now it's just the real me
Confusion was long set, the haze never left
Contusions were long felt, secrets never kept
I never met the man who pulled the strings
But when I killed the puppets, I gazed at the machine
The brain is like a castle, the archers are your thoughts
The knights are your regrets, that you left out to rot
You fight to get inside just to find that it's empty
The king was never there and the priest was the sentry
Feast of the century, feast upon yourself
The only way to know yourself is to kill yourself
