The Sand Dune

When I was a child my mother put me on a sand dune, so I could look out over the beach
Day after day, I watched the ocean waves roll in and crash into the shore

Above me the seagulls circled
They surely made a lot of noise, but I didn't noticed them at all, only the silence

I never got up from that sand dune
I stayed and I watched, watched the stars and people go by

Some squirrels jumped up on my lap
They looked deeply into my eyes
Then they told me story after story, about their lives and about my people
You're all really crazy, they said

Now I'm here and I take a deep breath
I close my eyes, and so... finally, I stand up
The sand bugs get very upset
They scream at me: "Why do you do this to us?"
"We had a shelter, we had a home for our children"
"You're crazy, you're bad"
Ok, well then, I'll sit down again
And I watch the ocean waves roll in and crash into the shore
But some day, some day even I have to rise up and go away from this sand dune
Be prepared!
