This Riddle

I woke up resurrecting demons
Smothered by the details we push way down
They always claw back to the surface
Dead weight I can't drown

And I'm still clinging to the driftwood
Floating past all the past I can't live down
Surrounded by every lie I ever sold you
Struggling to get to solid ground

A head full of all the bits I saved
And all the times I piled on the blame
Can't let it go, I'm running out of space
Paralyzed by the choices I made

Like how we never used that great front porch
It had a tree growing straight through the middle
And you were a terrific problem solver
But not enough to crack this riddle

A head full of all the bits I saved
And all the times I piled on the blame
Can't let it go, I'm running out of space
Paralyzed by the choices I made

I woke up resurrecting demons
Smothered by the details we push way down
They always claw back to the surface
Dead weight I can't drown
