Joy Never Dies

Life can change in an instant
Used to hearing her laughter
Now everything is different
And we live in the moment after
Remember the sinking feeling
In denial this isn't real
She was taken from us. No warning
They asking us how we feel
But do you really wanna know?
I"m conflicted. Part of me wants to cry
Look up to the heavens. Like why did she have die
Anger heating me up. My heart feeling a little dry
Got in my car. Gripping the wheel and I couldn't drive
But as I sit here there's a still small voice
That reminds me she's in heaven so I can rejoice
And that my pain isn't hers cause she feels no hurt
She had everything to gain when she left this earth
They told us Joy died. And we had to bury her
Told us to say by and to always cherish her
But God said son, Joy doesn't die
Just keep her alive in the way you live life

I shift my head to the clouds
Drowning from the pouring rain
Masking all my tears and pain
I can't bear this pain!
Please make it go away
Lord you're over everything
Please just heal my suffering

We ask why Joy had to leave, but I'm thankful that she lived
Richer now cause of what she had to give
See her smile in every picture on your fridge
And know she lived to bring heaven down to others like a bridge
But I know when death hits so sudden and fast
We start to realize life is fragile like you're holding some glass
You don't have time to say goodbye and you don't wanna get past
You start to grieve and long for times when you can see them at last
And Death still stings in the fact that it hurts when it strikes
Like when you scraped your knee as a kid when you fell off your bike
And time healed, but left scars just to remind us of heights
That God went to defeat death like a Mayweather fight
They told us Joy died, but I feel her inside
Because she lived to serve others and to brighten their lives
And God said, son I'm telling you that Joy doesn't die
This is just temporary and you'll see her in time

Death might sting, but God still reigns
Joy doesn't die, we will see her again

So, we live in this hope
And we give praise to the one who helps us to do more than just cope
And we raise up each other like a flag on a rope
So we can tell the whole world bout the Joy that we know
And every Sunset we see we will stop
And wait for stars to come out and know that this God
Was faithful to give us a light that forever shines
And as long as He lives. Joy never dies
