From a Seed

Every time I move I find
Cracks
In my aching spine
They are filled with teeming life
And I am the father of the mothers
Deep inside me
And I am a warden of the shelter
For the lost

And they know that I am broken
And their nests fill my limbs
With little birds and other things
But I don't mind them
'Cause when they live inside me
I feel like I am purpose
From a seed

Moving slow I feel a breeze
Wisp past my rooted feet
I dream geometry
Provide all I can be

And it calms me to believe
That I have purpose
And I feel naturally
Like I am worthless
Sometimes

And I fill my limbs with creatures
Because they love what I can be
And I am purpose
I'm their passion from a seed
But I am nothing
To me
