Based on a True Story
Depression is like a vacuum that sucks the life out of you
If you allow it to, it will destroy
I don't know why choose to assume that one another is okay
Instead of come alongside our brother or friend
What would life be like if we took responsibility for being a life giving influence
To one another's mental health
Maybe people wouldn't see suicide as such a viable escape
Maybe the violence would decrease
We'll never know if we don't try
Based on a True Story
Broken son, momma straight up dissed him
She said she didn't want him when his dad had left the picture
This hurt him to the core, he considered going missing
The anger in his heart, had already been an issue used to lash out at his sister
Though she feels the pain he's feeling
To young to see it different
No time to reconsider
'Cause life just keeps moving, though souls get caught in the past
So everyday he recycles angry thoughts
In a flash he's 16
Spends his days in a dream
Longing for better leaders to teach him who he should be
Searching for all of the answers that he felt his soul needs
But those answers stay questions cuz nobody that he sees, naw
Showed him how to live this life
He's going through the motions every day is dark as night
No one to put his hope in contemplating suicide
He sits all alone and he cries
Then he looked him in his eyes saying...
Tell me how you feel, tell me what you want
Tell me what you need, tell what you don't
You struggle for a change but your change is from above
You struggle for a change but that change is in son
You could really fly (fly)
Yeah you could really fly (fly)
Yeah you could really fly (fly)
Spread ya wings out wide
Lift ya hands to the sky and let soul fly
Now who is he? He would be his teacher
He noticed that this young man was more than a delinquent
He saw he had potential but was battling with demons would flip out for any reason
His anger marked by grieving
Bruh!
If anybody stepped to this kid
He felt he had to fight to prove his right to exist
He'd be swinging to the fences
Barry bonds ya if you're slippin
But his teacher had enough the day he put him in detention
Mr. teacher started snooping to find out who he moves with
Where he's from, what's his story, who's the dudes he's kool with
Found out that he's living with his aunt, her kids, and his sister
To see how broke his home was made since of all the tension
Caught him in the hallway the next day
Pulled him to the side, said he had something to say
Looked him in his eyes and told him he had purpose
I know you feel lost but today you find focus so
Tell me how you feel, tell me what you want
Tell me what you need, tell what you don't
You struggle for a change but your change is from above
You struggle for a change but that change is in son
You could really fly (fly)
Yeah you could really fly (fly)
Yeah you could really fly (fly)
