Wooden Ships

We have a special guest
Oh, do we have a special guest for you folks tonight
Oh, I'm so happy, I can't tell you

I, I started out as a guitar player and that's what I thought I was gonna do with my life
And then somewhere along the line, I heard songs that mix folk music and rock music and country music
In a way that made me wanna make up songs of my very own
And one of the people who invented the kind of music that I make today
One of the people who taught me how to sing harmony about listening to his records
And taught me how to write beautiful songs and beautiful melodies 'bout listening to his voice
Is here with us tonight to play a couple of songs, Mr. David Crosby

Ooh, we're gonna do some old songs for ya
Hello, Tiff
Hey, you guys
Woo, you ready?
Almost
(Hey-ho)

If you smile at me, I will understand
'Cause that is something everybody in the world does
In the same language

I can see by your coat, my friend
You're from the other side
Just one thing I'd like to know
Can you tell me please, who won the war?

Say, can I have some of your purple berries?
I've been eating them for six or seven weeks now
Haven't got sick once, probably keep us all alive

Wooden ships on the water, very free and easy
You know the way it's supposed to be
Silver people on the shoreline, let us be
Talkin' 'bout very free and easy

Horror grips us as we watch you die
All we can do is echo your anguished cries
Stare as all human beings die
We're all leaving, you don't need us

Go, take your sister then, by the hand
Lead her away from this foreign land
Far away, where we might laugh again
We are leaving, you don't need us

It's a fair wind
Blowin' warm
Out of the south of my shoulder
And guess I'm going to set a course
I do know, we will surely
We will surely
Go
