La Belle Dame Sans Merci (Introduction)

Another poem I set to music on this recording
Was "La Belle Dame sans Merci" by John Keats
Some of the imagery I saw
Was of an old soldier on a decimated battle war in landscape
Who in his final hours, hallucinates
Seeing his beloved, and maybe wonders what it was all for
In a place where no birds sing

What can ail thee, knight-at-arms
Alone and palely loitering?
The sedge has withered from the lake
And no birds sing
