Isaac

I'm a child sent on my way
To that cruel coming of age
Falling further from a fate
Worth living in
So I'm trying to understand
Life's much more than mortal man
And though time slips right through your hands
It's still worth grasping

Isaac eats breakfast for dinner, dinner for lunch
And though he knows he ain't got much
What he has does make him smile
It keeps him happy for a little while

Now there's not much I can afford
I watch the sunset when my soul is poor
Because if life does start right out that door
Its' end is unexpected
I've found life's a symphony
Played out of time and out of key
But it makes you cry when that sweet organ sings
Its' good intentions

He says "Boys think with their hearts, men think with their heads
But you don't have to die to end up dead
So when days ain't clear look in the mirror
And hope that boy didn't disappear"

The day's a gamble, the night's a fear
Sometimes I wonder if tomorrow's further than near
But I'll play the hand I'm dealt, I'll roll the dice
Because if things are for certain, no yearning, I'm learning
That just isn't life
