Johnny

We laughed around
I can almost see it now
We were trouble bound
And I could see we needed to get out

But Johnny kept on rowing
Even when approaching the fire
He knew where he was going
But drugs are so much harder to say goodbye
Then they are to try

We passed around
But Johnny brought his own
We didn't know
We went round and round
While Johnny snorted coke
Then I saw his nose

And from it blood was dripping
As Johnny's body slumped to the floor
His friends were high as kites
So they hadn't heard Johnny as he tried to call to us
Warn us
That he might have had a little too much
And we grabbed the phone, dialled triple 'O
We called Johnny's mother and she wept on the phone

He always said to me
That a harmless act could never cause more than a cure from
Boredom
Guess he just had a little too much
Goodbye Johnny
I guess I was right after all
Goodbye Johnny
I wish I wasn't right at all

We stood around
And watched Johnny go
We should have known
He was trouble bound
And it wasn't just the coke
Six feet below

'Cus Johnny kept on going
Looking for his next way to get high
He knew where he was going
But drugs are so much harder to say goodbye
Then they are to try
Then they are to try
