Sorrow and Pity

Every day in school the kids teased her good
Mother she dressed her the best she could
But when the factory closed and moved across the sea
It didn't leave her much to wear except for sorrow and pity

Now she's on the wharf a pint of gin and buzzed
Its easier to work and do what she does
Found in a hotel I heard someone say
The man wanted more but couldn't afford to pay

The scene of the crime was a tattered veil
One look inside anyone could tell
That when the factory closed and moved across the sea
It didn't leave her much to wear except for sorrow and pity
Didn't leave her much to wear except for sorrow and pity
