Aran Jumper

Together as we sit
Looking out at the sea with our cups
In our hands full of hot tea
And the sea is a grey photograph
Full of hopes full of dreams full of night

Your books have lined the walls
Flowers of red yellow gold Rug on wood wood on fire
Twinkling night lights
Croissant tubs bobbing boats crimson toes
Grey on green firewood stove treasure trove

Alone we sail through night-time rain
Bath tubs of milk, drying cloths of silk
Across the bay, night lights have their say

And though this time is brief I will keep it with me
Sun to warm what I feel In the winter
Cable knit steals my wit as we slide
Diving birds sending signs to my mind

The books are stacked up tall
They are towers about to fall
They are proud We are tender
You're the king on his couch looking out
While the queen has her heart in her mouth

Alone we sail through night-time rain
Bath tubs of milk
Drying cloths of silk
Across the bay night lights have their say

The pages fill the bath Ink and soap
Broken hearts Butter churns
Slanting chairs Creature Comforts
Lonely souls setting off on their roads
Take a book and good care as you go

Together as we sit
Looking out at the sea with our cups
In our hands Full of hot tea
And the sea is a grey photograph
Full of hopes full of dreams full of night

Alone we sail through night-time rain
Bath tubs of milk
Drying cloths of silk
Across the bay Night lights have their say
