Better Sons and Daughters

Somebody get up and go and buy a bucket
Fill it with cold soap and water
Somebody, scrub your body clean with a sponge
Learn to be a better son or daughter
Stop burning things with those guys in the street
And stop spilling drinks, and stop smoking weed
And please stop coming home so late at night

We've all seen better sons and daughters

And I don't want to make a change
Sometimes, sometimes I want to write on the walls
But I guess I don't really have much to say
Sometimes I want to claw out my eyes with a razor blade
Until I think of what my mom would have to say
This week, I could be absolutely nothing
Like a drop of water in a mostly-empty bottle
You forgot to throw away
Tomorrow, maybe I'll feel like being something again
But probably not
With the way I feel today

We've all seen better sons and daughters

And I don't want to make a change yet
I could see my car going 90 on the highway
And then crashing into another car
I see glass shatter
Feel it rain on me
I can hear the people in the other car scream
I say "I'm sorry"
I could see my car going 90 on the highway
And then crashing into another car
I see blood splatter
Feel it rain on me
I can hear those people from the other car scream
I say "I'm sorry"
(I never meant to hurt anyone but myself)
But sorry doesn't cut it anymore
