Life
Life
A force with to be reckon
That's constantly being re-written
But I only need 244 seconds
And for you all to listen
So stop and let's set aside opinions
We all stand here today
With each of us telling our own separate story
Of how we got here
Of why we're here
Of why we are this way
The things we may have seen
Heard
Done
Did
It's makes us all different
But united just the same
And all of these words are apart of a greater story
I say em with a heavy heart
And arms opened wide
Hoping to help someone else from the dark
To hopefully fuel a fire
Or even just to light a spark
We may come from a broken home
Maybe someone left you
Feeling so alone
While maybe some of you have been persecuted
Completely done wrong
Loved ones lost
Maybe a choice we made
Came at too great a cost
Thinking we need to hang ourself
From a rope
Pull a trigger
And end it all
Standing on top of a mountain
Just to take your greatest fall
Each one of us is living our very own cautionary tale
We could tell
Each other
Over a million different ways
We could possibly fail
Thinking our burdens
Are simply too big to bare
That's life
It's full of ups and downs
It beats you down
Throws you in the deep end
Waiting for you to drown
And just as life begins to throw you away
You feel a loving hand grabbing you
Pulling you back in
And assuring you things'll be okay
I couldn't tell a number
Of times I felt that way
So many people in my life
Walked away
Crossed out my name
And I'd be lying if I didn't say
I wasn't ready to give weigh
But the ones I still call family
Keep helping me not to break
That doesn't mean I'm saying
I don't wake up everyday with pain
Because I do
What I am saying is that
I'm finding a way to live with it each day
But for some
It's just not that easy
For far too many
They count life as a loss
And tragically take the defeat
While others are down to nothing
Living on the street
Some of us can't even stand on our own two feet
Can't eat
Can't sleep
Can't function properly
Anxiety and depression is on the rise
And society's solution
Is what
New meds with side effects that'll have em dead in a week
Whatever happened to really being there
And letting someone know you really do care
And telling them that now
And not wishing we had
When it's already too late
That's life
It's a gift that's feeling more like a curse
And it's only getting worse
We see a spike in careers as a nurse
We all know why
Death is a constant
Grow old and die
And return to the dirt
And for the family it hurts
But that's not even the worst
We try and put the pieces back together
Make it work
But we never fill the void left by you
We're reminded everyday
That life no longer has us together as two
Even God couldn't count
The tears we cry
For the reasons we cry
We may never even know why
If we stop and stare long enough
You can see the broken
In each other's eyes
Put up a guard
We could speak the truth a thousand times
But people would only believe
They're all lies.
Backs filled with knives
Life's a roll of the dice
Divorces spike
Countless suicides happen every night
The bulb must be missing
Cuz there sure isn't a lot of light
Some kids'll grow up
Never knowing their own father
And he sure won't know them
Reaching out he doesn't bother
Alcohol for the mother
Drugs for the daughter
Murder for the brother
That's life
Without a doubt
I can say
This whole Pen and Paper thing
Served for me
As a bit of closure
Tomorrow
Life will start writing all our new chapters
As this one
The page is turning over
But before it closes
I know how important it is
To be there
To remind someone that it'll be okay
There's always a new dawn approaching
And I'll be there every step of the way
With a song
With a message
Hoping to help someone else from out the darkness
And that
That right there
Is life
A force with to be reckon
