Intro: A Happy Thought - Live
Adonis Rose
Thank you so much, so happy to have your, very fine company this evening
And a gorgeous, autumn evening here in London
We appreciate you braving that which must be braved, to make the scene
I'm afraid the list is growing longer, longer by the day
We've made a thin, uh, called, "The questions"
It's our, most recent recording, it features that last number
It's about Dylan composition, a magnificent piece of list poetry
That I am sad to say could be right out of the headlines
'Cause it's just as current as it was when it was written, man
The questions, we've got a lot of questions tonight, uh
Questions for, uh, all of our lovely friends here in the UK and back in the States
Where crazy things are happening all the time
It seems like it's
It's death-defying, man, just to make it through the day, uh
Questions like, uh, "How the hell did all of this happen?"
And "How long will it last?" And
"How deep will the hole be?"
Who knew? In our lifetime, such needless insanity
Man, but here we are tonight, people of goodwill gathered in a darkened room
To listen to disgruntled jazz musicians apply their trade, works out just fine for me
I think it speaks well of your character
If not your pocketbook
I promise you there are midterm elections coming up in the States
I was here two years ago when the dreadful immediate event occurred, man
And then it was, terrifying then, and
Now all of those misgivings have been playing out this whole time
But, here we go, another corner we can turn all people of good will
We're gonna stand up to it
We're gonna do what must be done to see us, see us all through another day
And keep each other safe
What do you think about that?
That's how I think, it gonna go
That's what I call a happy thought
