When she told me no, I'm thinking I just about died
But you told me she would come around and that she only turned me down
Because she thinks you need me in your life
You said
"Once she sees that you're gone and I'm doing just fine
She'll come back to you and she won't have an excuse
She'll see the truth and then she'll change her mind"

But I don't know how likely that is
She left me feeling small and insignificant
When she rejected me on Christmas Eve I felt myself lose hope
So maybe it's better now if I just let her go

Now maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not quite convinced that you're right
Though I guess that there were signs when she would laugh and she would look at me
That said she felt the same a couple times

"She'll show up when she knows that there's no you and I"
You tell me once you disappear, that when you're gone no longer here
She'll gladly fill the void left by my side

But I don't know how likely that is
Still, you insist on keeping your distance
You've been avoiding me since New Year's Eve and I don't know what to do
Because it's one thing if she stays away from me but it's another if it's you

I don't think that this is what I wanted
It's not quite the way I imagined it in my head
Maybe there's a chance that I can take back what I did
