Erika Bowman - Acoustic

She'd tell me, "It's half empty", as she looked down at her beer
One minute, she'd be laughing, the next, almost in tears
It was my need to save myself that carried me away
She had a soul that brought life back into who I am today
I remember that motel room and how she just kept holding on
A little girl in school and a teen that had been gone too long
When I was cold and wet and hungry, she snuck me in at night
And we would drink until we were stupid, but we were alright
When they got that new apartment, they invited me to see
A family, though dysfunctional, just like it oughta be
We jacked some vodka from the grocery store
And drank to their new home
Then I left for treatment and I let my good friends go

When I got back, there was so much to do, so many hills to climb
I had planned to go and visit them, but I didn't find the time
In January, she passed away, a month after that, I knew
I'd say she was a friend of mine and I love her through and through
She'd tell me, "It's half empty", as she looked down at her beer
One minute, we'll be laughing, the next, we're all in tears
