Homegrown

These days grow dark
With saddest attempts
The world that we know
Doesn't always exist
We try so hard just to do our best
At the end of the road we can never except

Your ignorance is a slap to the face
Putting everyone down to get ahead in the race
If you showed some compassion for others instead
I take solace in the words that you have said

This world will try to bring you down
Whatever you do
You will make me proud
Turn this place around
Take it away from this shroud of hate
There is more to this life
Give it a better fate

You won't ever be some second rate
Your worth more to me to be another slate
Work hard never give up
Finish what you start
You don't have to be smart
To show that you have heart

Just remember son
Try to learn from my mistakes
You must do this on your own
But I can show the way

I know if you stumble
I will be there to catch you when you fall
Whatever you do with this life
I'll support you through it all

I've taught you as much as I can
To help you become a better man
Family first yeah will see them in the end
Now get work and build a life with your hands

The rest is up to you
Just as long as you
Stay true

Take all you want
Eat all you take
In my home you don't want to be the second plate

As I walk on the streets
I feel the ground beneath my feet
When I pass by all the leaves
I see a world that you perceive

Don't forget
Dads can be a million
But mothers only one
Just remember at thee end of the day
When all is said and done

Always willing to take
But your never willing to receive
I must be what's wrong with this world
If I'm real to what I believe

What I believe
