Killer Is King

A free press is a cornerstone of a
21st century enlightened democracy
To keep a watch on the high and mighty
But beware, there are those out there who have
Different opinions, money and minions
And they believe they can act as they please
Speak truth to power: a dangerous pursuit
If you point out the King is in his birthday suit
You're naked too, and you might just catch a cold

Cry freedom, scream "enough" but you
Just can't hide from the Big Bad wolf
Special forces here in our midst
Step out of line and you're on their list
Watch your back; be afraid of
State sponsored assassination
It's a terrible world we're living in
Where the killer is king

So who'll watch the watchmen, who'll take the risk?
If they feel free to murder the journalists
And the Government just gives a slap on the wrist
Where does this end if dictatorships just
Do as they please, extinguish their critics and
Walk rough shod over law and order?
What does it say about our malaise if we
Just walk away and let them escape? It's a
Line in the sand and we need to make a stand
