Break Out (Pop It)

Pop it
When I first started out, I was ready to go
I had a band in demand, now we're playing some shows
I had no idea what the future would bring
I thought that we could go all the way
If we get a record deal, we're made in the shade
But that was not meant to be

Over the years I've played a hundred thousand shows, but no one cared
And I'm ready to take the next step, and best believe I came prepared

I think it's time
To break out of the chains that held me down for so
Long but now I'm strong
And I'm never gonna make it if I never really try
Strive for the prize
Too caught up in the dream to wake up and realize
Time flashes by
Gotta get out of my self-imposed little bubble now
Pop it

Throwing my band's CD's in the trash
And all my fan-less shows from the past
Won't get me down 'cause you know there's no stoppin'
I take pride in what I've been through
All my bands helped me understand this groove
And now your head's the one rockin'

I'm willing to play another hundred thousand shows to earn my place
And I'm giving it one more shot, so I don't have to live in disgrace

I think it's time
To break out of the chains that held me down for so
Long but now I'm strong
And I'm never gonna make it if I never really try
Strive for the prize
Too caught up in the dream to wake up and realize
Time flashes by
Gotta get out of my self-imposed little bubble now
Saxophone pop it

I've walked this path for so long, and it's time to use the things that I've learned
I've always waited at the back of the line, but now I think it's finally my turn
Not looking for the red carpet treatment, just want my songs to be heard
I just want my funk in your ears, but don't just take my word
