Wake the Lion

Wake the lion this dream is dead,
The war's been lost in the dreamer's head, The whole world is just pride and gain,
The water and the ship went down the drain,
Honey can drip from the tongue of any fool, But is love the exception or the rule,
I see the cruelty of ages and it's no surprise,
Man is no less cruel and no more wise.

Come down heaven; crush this hell,
Steal a line from the poet's tale.

There are enough trivial tragedies everyday,
To amount to a holocaust in every way,
To insult the animals is to compare man thus,
Because they are much less ignoble than us,
People want liberty at the expense of justice,
Their souls are weak and their hearts are rusted,
Fate to the wind as it gathers force, Hurricane the masses from the rainbow's source.

Come down angels; thrash these bones, Call up the balance on the overdue loans.

Every now and then I feel the beast in me, But like the sky I always break free,
The world's big fist hits us all,
Hit man hard enough to make him fall, Radio waves distort the call of grace,
Man's savage lust takes its place,
You can feel it just beneath the surface of things,
Only takes one spark and out it sings.

Raise up demons inherit the earth,
And when you've got try to tell me how much it's worth.

It's all such a waste of flesh and bone,
The world's more real in flowers and stone, I'd like to offer hope but sometimes I can't, Man seems no more than king of the ant heap ant,
When Satan comes to crush humanity,
And Christ comes for the few left with any sanity,
I'll be thankful for the end and I won't miss life,
I'll just wave bye bye and take the hand of Christ.

Come down heaven; crush this hell,
Steal a line from the poet's tale.
