Family Tapes

You roll your pretty eyes at me
I know you see things that I don't see
I'd like to wrap myself around you for a while
Your parents taught you how to dance
How to tie your shoes and roll your pants
I've always thought that I just can't

Sometimes I feel trapped in my head
In a world of grey and blue and red
I'd like to rest my heavy head down for a while
So often in panic mode
I breath and I sing and I kiss with my eyes closed
I'd like to let my heavy thoughts go for a while

You pulled out your family tapes
To digitalize, to reacquaint
Hours and hours of lazy Saturdays
Your brother looked me in the face
And stole me with his bright blue gaze
I'm so happy he stayed

I saw the homeless man
Checking out the Mercedes Benz
Everything was hilarious to me then
Cause I fight and fight it you see:
Health, unconditional love and good sleep
He's no different than me; We're all just fighting to be free
