Cardinal

I'm stuck now in-between dusk and dawn
Not sure if the plans I've made, the sun will rise or set on
And I've made friends with the night, Pretending wrong is right
And I made a wish upon a star
That the world would fall in to my arms
Days go, the weeks come, I'll dine alone
These walls are strong but breakable, my knuckles know
Don't Watch my steps, I'm careless, My heart's exposed
I know I'm called for more than this, but on I go, on I go
He's great tone, and full of life.
Said He'd stay right by my side
He parts clouds, and lifts eyes, promises the sun still shines
My rough edges, we're bumping heads, our hearts collide
I said a prayer, that night
that I'd have the strength to give up the fight
And I have nothing to boast in, nothing of my own to show
Like a cardinal stuck in a lantern, a beautiful red but I don't glow
So won't you come now and open the windows?
And I'll be free to go on my own
I'll leave these old ways behind me, I'll find my rest in your home
