A Friend I’ve Found

Well, Johnny went down to Mexico
He thought he would be a one man show
Because he learned early on to stand on his own

Johnny was a fighter and he could never back down
And he made is way from town to town
Kicking up trouble and holding his crown

Till one night he was in over his head
Knocked to the ground and left for dead
But someone stepped in to help as he bled

They were lost but now they're found
They're just two good 'ol boys hanging around
When times are tough, and you're knocked down to the ground
A friend won't let you down
That friend you've found

They caught a ride to Zocalo square
They were not sure what would be there
But that was as good as being anywhere

They met a man who could play some tunes
On his guitar he would play the blues
The boys were hooked by this old muse

Instead of fighting they started to play
The muse taught them day by day
In his wisdom, he had these words to say

"You were lost, but now you're found
Just two good 'ole boys hanging around
When times are tough, and you're knocked down to the ground
A friend won't let you down
That friend you found"

Together they played up and down the coast
Living their lives and making the most
Playing them blues with their new host

There came a day, the muse said with a sigh
"My days are done and I must fly,"
With a smile he waved to them goodbye

Now those good old boys continue to play
Them blues down in old mexico way
And if you listen you will hear them say,

"We were lost, but now we're found
We're just two good 'ole boys hanging around
When times are tough, and we're knocked down to the ground
I won't let you down
My friend I've found" (my friend, my friend I've found)
My friend I've found (my friend, my friend I've found)
My friend I've found (my friend, my friend I've found)
(my friend, my friend I've found)
(my friend, my friend I've found)
(my friend, my friend I've found)
