Pine Overcoat

I went to the outdoor store
And walked around without much purpose
Without direction
Looked at everything
I looked at everything
Eventually
I came across a coat

It was made of pine
Plain, and unrefined
I got inside
I stayed inside

Inside this pine overcoat
It is warm and dark
And you can pile on the dirt
And you can nail it shut

And it won't mean
A goddamn thing to me
You see, I never bought the coat
It was given to me

I never bought the coat
But now it is mine
And I'll wear it
Forever
Until it is torn apart by time.
