A Grief Observed

As the wind blows
My soul is put to rest
Fading shadows
Distant memories
Searching inside
Nothing to find
Empty and numb
And all was gone
Lost to the wind

As the fire burns
I dig a second grave
One for myself
One for my love
Selfish admission
I want to be the first
Bullet in the head
Splatter yourself
Wish you were dead
Don't leave me here
First one my dear
Wish you were here

Now into eternal pain
These shades of grey never lift
I'm only holding on to this
Because there's nothing else
Keeping with reality
My mind won't blank
My face if numb
Racing thoughts
Where will I go
When I pull this trigger?

And finally
I've become
A ghost inside your head
Where you'll see
That I have never felt the joy
Of never being dead

And this is where
I will leave
Because I am no longer needed
Memories, from distant pasts
Will trap you in your head
