Thunderclouds

Black thunderclouds rolling in from the distance
Don't know how long they've been traveling drifting
Waiting to come upon a tiny town to unleash the storm
And tiny citizens running around closing doors

They had laughed, now they cry
And they're running inside from the rumble
They look back and they try to remember good times
Only some will, and barely even then

And the time goes by as they wait for the light
To come back outside sometime, make a break in the night
But the rain falls still, lightning's the only sight falling down

Candlelight flickers the room as the children play their games
But even imagination is nothing to the real
Mama tries to comfort them, Daddy tells stories
Great adventures in the night turning to morning

And they laugh and they cry
"Oh those'll be such good times in the sunshine!"
They look back and they try to see through the night
But the dark's blinding... but they will look still

And the time goes by as they wait for the light
To come back outside sometime, make a break in the night
But the rain falls still, lightning's the only sight falling down

And the room goes dark as the wax runs thin
And the booms sound stark, oh just overhead
And the tears fall down, Daddy rubs theirs heads
Saying "It's ok, it's all gonna be ok..."

"See the rain will pass because darkness can't win.
Though it's overcast, its future's looking grim.
When the sun comes out all this water will dry
Including the tears in your eyes.

"And the time goes by as they wait for the light
To come back outside sometime, make a break in the night
But the rain falls still, lightning's the only sight falling down

"And the room goes dark as the wax runs thin
And the booms sound stark, oh just overhead
And the tears fall down, Daddy rubs theirs heads
Saying "It's ok, it's all gonna be ok..."
