Looking in your window all I see is gloom
Outside another man is waiting to come into your room
And you were crying from your shame but then you opened the door wide
To a man with five denarii who said, "I need to come inside"

Mary, I saw you change when a man came from Galilee
He preached the word of God and set something inside you free
But Mary you still shined your light for all to see at night from the streets
You went back to the darkness with your demons and broken dreams
But then you'd return to Him and He made you clean

I saw you there when you let down your hair
And you weren't concerned about all the people there
You took the precious oils and anointed Him
Others said it was foolishly wasted. You gladly gave it to your friend

But when you'd return to Him and He'd continue to make you clean

I saw you at the cross and all the tears you lost
When you saw His broken body you realized the cost
And I started crying too when I saw the blood shed for me and you
Ever since that day Mary you stayed forever true

And Mary you shined the love of God as a witness for everyone to see
You lead others out of darkness from the place you use to be
And you'd tell them to turn to Him so He could make them clean
