Freedom

The freedom struggle of marginalized groups
Won't be resolved with minimal effort
Freedom can feel unreachable
But with efforts to effect change
We can begin to see freedom birthed in the small impactful actions
We take each day

It's a battle
It's a double edged sword
At its heels I reach for peace
But I'm consumed by power
In enemy's hands

It's a dream and it comes with a price
Release pain for duty
And my human rights

History on my back, holding me back
I'm free from chains but still bound
By a system ingrained deep, oh it's ingrained so deep
Brothers slain one by one, gun by gun
This disparity between us keeps the divide strong

Freedom, where is my freedom?
I hear my people
Crying for freedom
So I say freedom, we gonna find you
Freedom we gonna find you
Freedom, where is my freedom?
I hear my people
Crying for freedom
So I say freedom, we gonna find you
Freedom we gonna find you

People in positions of privilege
Need to extend a hand to those without
Freedom won't come without generosity
It won't come until we let go of our egos

Laying low but tryna fight back
We make noise cause we want our presence known
Influence and power in the hands of but a few of us
But it's not enough, we need more to come through for us

What would it mean, what would it mean to really be free?
What would it mean to see real equality?
What would it mean, what would it mean to really be free?
What would it mean to see real equality?

Crying out for freedom
Freedom, where is my freedom?
I hear my people
Crying for freedom
So I say freedom, we gonna find you
Freedom we gonna find you
Freedom, where is my freedom?
I hear my people
Crying for freedom
Freedom, we gonna find you
Freedom we gonna find you
