The Green Knight
It was Christmas at Camelot the feasting was grand
With Arthur and Guinevere and all their knights to hand
There seemed not a care nothing would spoil the day
When in rode a giant knight and he was heard to say
I challenge a knight to fight me
But you won't land one blow
And the knight was green
From his head to his toes
Green was his hair his beard and his clothes
And Gawain declared his courage that he would show
And to that giant knight his gauntlet he did throw
The green knight did laugh such a terrible sound
Shouting you can have a year to find my battleground
And the knight was green
From his head to his toes
Green was his hair his beard and his clothes
Green was his armour his surcoat and his shield
How many men had that giant killed
Green was his helmet his sword and his lance
And only brave Gawain dared to meet his glance
The time it did come for the greatest fight
Gawain looked so tiny up against that giant knight
The giant dropped his sword and gave a mighty grin
I like you young sir and so I'll let you win
My challenge has been met and my anger does disappear
You have surely proved your bravery for more than a year
With Arthur and Guinevere and all their knights to hand
