Feast Of The Dead

Send the drummers down every street
Hurdy gurdy drones loud and sweet
Wake the animals from their beds
All join the feast of the dead

Yes a feast for the birds and worms
The mice and jackals all have their turns
The blessed ones that clean the earth
Death rides astride life from birth

God summons them all to forge
To the feast of the dead to court
God (just?) once on the earth did try (?)
Ashes and death swept away by god

Listen to the bells that ring
Hear the wind and the birds that sing
Animals from the day and night
Called to do this task of might

Think about the things unseen
Listen to what the prophets sing
May we number our days alive
May we love while we're in the light
