We've been wanting to do a song long time about sexy depression
And originally, it was supposed to be a Lana Del Rey type pop song
'Cause Lana Del Rey, there's literally a music video where she jumps off a cliff
But it's like with an Instagram filter
And this idea in general of women being sexy sad
That's something I've been fascinated with for a long time
You know I fascinate with someone like Marilyn Monroe
Like oh she was so tragic and beautiful and sad
And it's like Marilyn Monroe was consistently late to set
And didn't know her lines
And she was basically like the Lindsay Lohan of the '50s
But we, we (We sexualize it)
We sexualize it
We idolize it
We really like this idea of women being powerless and disenfranchised
And that being sexy
And so we tryna think of a cool genre

But the song was called "I'm so sexy sad" (I remember)
And I left the room and you were talking about I'm so sexy sad
And I went to the bathroom (Yes)
And I came back and you were like wait a minute
Wait a minute, wait a minute
Just listen, just wait a minute (Yes)
And then, it was like it's gonna be in French
And it's gonna be about sexy French depression
And you were looking at me like this is gonna be completely nuts
And you're not gonna like it but I loved it

Yes, and originally the whole song was gonna be in French
And you were like what we doing?
And so we didn't do the whole song in French

No, didn't somebody give the note that part of the reason you can't do that
Is because people watch everything on their phones now
They literally won't be able to read the (Yes, that is a good point)

It's a lot better to vary it up especially when you get to the bridges
That are all in French
It makes it standout more that I bought a book
