Common Sense

She moved so quickly
Out the back window
She'd snuck out about
A dozen times before that day
And I followed shortly after
She
Began to smoke a cigarette
Her father's lighter
In her right hand
And the other on my hip

She told me that I would be her only
And truly I don't think I've loved another since
And I think I thought that at least a dozen times but
It don't hold up much to common sense
Cause I don't think I really knew you like I thought I did

I stayed out hours after it got dark
I try
To go to bed before eleven
On an ordinary night
But I had trouble sleepin'
Got caught up in some sort of Friday type
Of conversation
We were up drinking
From your mom's bottle of
Wine

You told me that I would be her only

I don't think I think about you all that much
But it's enough to say I'm doin' fine
