Owamemba

We went walking all alone, to find a place where no one ever goes
Hand in hand and moving slow, somewhere the oldest tree grows
On a branch we saw a bird, maroon red, with one sunken eye
With a scream he flapped his wings, looked at us, and began to fly

And then he told us, we're just drops of rain
Hope that we end up in the same drain

Feeling weak but more alive, moving on, steps ahead of time
Birds circle in a crown overhead as we wade through rivers and cry
On a mountain came a howl, rocks and fire were blown into the sky
Elevated, grabbed up from behind, I turned and looked into the eye

And then he told me, remember my name
Follow the path and stop at the grave, and say

Owamemba, King of the Red Sky
Grant me all the power to not die
Before I drink from the fountain
Life starting over again
