The Taxidermist's Daughter

Congratulations are in order
For the taxidermist's daughter
She's expecting her first
The light on his camcorder's out of order
The days are getting shorter
Everything's feeling worse
And he don't know
What it's like to die in vain
But he can show
You a rare orangutan from Spain

Why can't he just be alone?
To pull the strand and shave the bone

Where are we now?

Later that night our taxidermist
Feeling nervous fills his thermos
He can't take any more
It feels like all the glassy eyes are staring
Judging what he's wearing
It's his head on the door
And now he knows
What it's like to love in vain
His dear, sweet wife
Just ran off with the Head of Fish and Game

Why can't he just be alone?
To pull the strand and shave the bone

Where are we now?
