Beauty of the Trees

I lost it all
Like a fairy tale
With the last page missing
And no end regaled

I spent my life
Wasting all my days
Filled them up with pity
Saw them through a haze

Sometimes I think that death would bring
The simpleness of ease
But I keep living
For the beauty of the trees

I've seen the world
Man I've seen it all
From the sunset summers
To the backlit falls

From the solemn winters
To the melting springs
When the birds come home
And the forest sings

I have shouted out my pain
And heard it echo in the breeze
Only to lighten from
The beauty of the trees

I don't know if there's a heaven
I don't know if there's a hell
I just spend my days in wait
Until they toll my final bell

And when I rest
Finally at peace
I will be grateful for
The beauty of the trees

I will be grateful for
The beauty of the trees
