The Pilgrim

His hands are strong
But covered in soil
He clings to his load
And presses on

A journey long
Holding to promise
Forging onward
Till Hope he has wed

I look through this room
Searching for eyes that see
This is not home
This is not what we were meant to be
When will this load fall
When will these trees not seem so tall
Can this hope be enough
Enough for these thieves to run

The night draws near
The air grows cold
He tries with his might
To see through the mist

His legs grow weak
Eyes turn and see
The end of his striving
The lady he seeks

His hope is not lost
My hope still proves to cost
He's found his home
My journey still wonders on
Through the unforeseen
Walking through these evergreens
This hope will be enough
Enough for these thieves to run
