Shattered

The terror of this loss is too much to bear.
Too much to bear.

The thought is crippling,
Too heavy to consider.
That weight would crush my back.
An anchor around my legs, waist, and neck.
Flat on the ground.
Paralyzed in grief.
Unable to move.
Will choked lifeless,
Lungs stagnant, empty.
Anger, confusion, and fear.
Blame, guilt, and outrage.
Unrestrained sorrow,
Staggering anguish.
Crushed, broken glass in a thousand pieces,
Waiting to be trampled.
I thought I had more time.
The hourglass near full,
Held high above my head,
Now crashed down.
Sand pouring out the sides.
Left on my own,

Crushed to death.
Buried in isolation,
Submerged and depleted.
