Material Girl

She whispers into my ear
The warm electricity
Current tickling cross wires
Caressing circuitry and crushed velvet
As if her breath were an echo chamber
Reflecting light and sound back into the world
The rattling of bones on wood
Plastic cards slapping softly on baize
Air flush with feathers and flesh
As the room dilates into view

She knows where I had gone
And how I longed to return
To the world of flashing lights and lingering glances where
Reels of memories
Facets of faces line time
Loosened from the cement of context
With all our names as passwords
And how I, having claimed my self once more
Find her, otherwise known as me

Overlaid
My digital persona
Sewn into this bodily realm
The union of my two halves
Highlights glitter, past selves
Contouring the curves of my present body
A heaving, rippling parcel of possibilities
With selected spotlights
Strategically perched
Pixels
Embedded with skin, salt and sweat
Scents of acetone and smoky wood perfume are
A familiar sensorium as
I hold up a silken glove
The warmth of my hands bringing me
Back to the moment
I am whispering to myself
Tangled in time
Re-uploaded
To the material world
