In Silence

I'm lost in the moment again
A siren's call from the midnight streets
Which hold your hand
But turn away from mine

A cold breeze is always going to chill you, I fear
A cold shoulder is never going to kill you, my dear

Come quote some European literature at me
The night is young enough to be attentive
And old enough not to be impatient
You smile vaguely in my direction
And regardless of intent
It's taken as a compliment

There's been a strong resurgence in my appreciation of silence
And this goes deeper than a half an hour ever could tell
And to think what we gave up for this
