I heard a tale three men at sea
Their engine died indefinitely
I may have thought this true from false
Till it was us forever lost
And in this tale they drank the rain
And ate the fish for which they came
A month gone by they said their prayers
For a ship that wasn't there
And then they woke to thunderous sounds
There a ship was coming now
We waved our shirts and cried her name

And it don't take much to remember in that moment
We all saw land in water we were
One step closer to God in that moment we all held hands
Crying S.O.S. I see you see us from inside the glass
Princess won't you slow down lower your ropes
In that moment she sailed right past
She sailed past us

I may have thought that this was fake
I pinched myself and saw her wake
I sat alone to which I cried
Cuz both my men gave up and died
So this is it my life is done follow my men into the sun
I closed my eyes and said my prayers for the ship
That wasn't there
And then I woke to thunderous sounds
Another ship was coming now
I waved my shirt and cried her name

Trace the broken clouds across the sky

Praying for that ship to come that ship that isn't there
Then the birds they sang a song of hope
I woke and turned my head
Only you the bearded captain asked
Yes sir those two are dead
