Ferris Wheel

We look at the world through the eyes of a child
Everything's new, and everything is wild
Everybody knows something must be wrong
Cause no one ever stays smiling for this long

We're just little kids at the top of the slide
Here just for the view; someday we'll take the ride

Hand in hand we race through the games at the fair
"Here throw the dart!" "Win the girl a bear!"
They all lean in and smile- they know something we do not
But we've always known; somewhere we just forgot

We're passengers at the top of the ferris wheel
Only two here in this circle of lights and steel
Look out at our city, so high I can't tell where is home
We go up together, but I come down alone

We are just two souls passing in midflight
And we've had good days and even better nights
