Polaroids

I've got a story about a boy
And I'm gonna put it in the papers
He's got a story about this girl
That flies through the air like a feather
Here's an account of a day in his life
He stands on a street in a city
Observing the folks passing by in the blink of an eye
His polariods look worse in black and white
so when he takes them out to dry
he paints her hair in red and gold
I've got a story about a boy
And I'm gonna put it in the papers
Entranced with the image of the perfect girl
That runs like a deer through the meadows
He stands on the street when the day's at an end
And tears are caressing his cheek
He sleeps on the sidewalk and dreams she is lying in his arms
His polaroids look worse in black and white
so when he takes them out to dry
he paints her smiling
as she flies towards the ocean like a bird
and as he's leaping off the edge in his pursuit
he's chasing butterflies and falls into the sea
