I think you might have seen this one before
They turn out for some action
And get stopped at the door
And I wish that I had asked for them to wait
But by the time I'd found the answer
It would surely be too late

Positively desperate was the night
He may have been unwanted
But still drawn towards the light
And though he never landed on his feet
He was humble in his victories
And gracious in defeat

I don't know what I've got
Diamond or just another rock
I can't see for looking
We're all blind when the lights are off

Travel safe and sound and pick and choose
There's no sense in being a loser if you've nothing more to lose
And I hope when we next meet the sun is down
So you can't see my tired eyes and I can't see you frown
And I hope that we pretend like we just met
And I hope you don't remember
And I hope I can forget
The sign reads 'please leave quiet and come back soon'
But if they don't share your faith
You'll be laughed out of the room
