The Fall

Seemed like any other day, a sunny sky, no touch of gray
But everything can change in second's time
I thought it was the Cardinal rule, the one they taught in church and school
"Good things happen to the ones who shine"

I read it in the Olde' with Cain how some may sacrifice in vain, so when will we be Abel to again
Receive the happiness we had, the faces on the mom and dad were punctuated with a bless'd Amen
So is this all a bible verse? A book of Job? A dress rehearsal to be played until the curtain call?
We trusted You, though I still do my faith is wavering, hanging like the other shoe that's meant to fall

So if there's ever any doubt that things are too good to be true
Look at me, look at you, look at how it came together and how it fell apart
We're quarreling with God now, it's always so disheartening whenever there's a Fall from Paradise
That didn't come from trees or lies, or picking apples like the child may have done, and so we rise
But only to fall, only to fall
Still I guess above all, together we'll fall, together we fall
